KCFS sponsored a State School Board Candidate forum on Monday, July 23, 2012 at the Manhattan Public Library. A recording of that event is available above.
The Kansas State Board of Education (KBOE) makes important decisions that impact our schools and our students. The board has the responsibility for the supervision of K-12 schools.
Please take this opportunity to learn more about those seeking office.
Participating candidates:
Kansas Citizens for Science, as a 501(c)3 organization, does not endorse candidates. Consistent with our mission we strive for the sharing of accurate information about candidates' views regarding science, with all Kansas citizens. This is an effort to ensure that votes are cast from knowledge about candidates rather than from ignorance.
In the belief that the Kansas electorate deserves to know candidates' positions on issues affecting science and science education, KCFS has asked all candidates for the Kansas Senate, Kansas House, and Kansas State Board of Education to complete a questionnaire. You can find those that have been returned posted here. These are posted exactly as they are received.
KCFS does not encourage single-issue voting, but we do think that intelligent voting decisions can only be made when all positions are known, including how candidates view science.
If you do not find a questionnaire for candidates in races in your area, please contact them and ask them to return questionnaires to us for posting.
