Post I was once a Fundamentalist Christian, but...
somehow managed to break free from that mental indoctrination...

Just thought I would throw that out there to see if ABO or MikeH (or others) could relate.

Not trying to make a joke here (like I often do), just laying some "cards on the table", so to speak. :|

Brian,

Were you a Christianist, Christian, or Follower of Christ?

And now you are a Fundamentalist Atheist. Got it. (And I am not trying to make a joke here, just laying my cards on the table.)

Presumptuous as usual. I should have known I would have got that kind of response from you.

Thanks. I see you "relate" to it quite well.

I was raised in a catholic household. Believing as a child many of the myths from both the new and old testament. So I suppose that qualifies me as being a ... uh.... "fu**ie". Let's just call it.. the "other F word, or "OFW".., since the other word seems to be so offensive to some folks.

As a child, I was an "OFW" :|

Sorry but sometimes I cant help but laugh when someone makes silly arguments. Ridiculous things deserve ridicule IMO.

I apologize for that, like I said before it's not easy posting using an IPad's standard keyboard. I'll fix it, thanks.

However, if you really are serious, perhaps you could explain what you meant by being a "fundamentalist"?

See post above to Dagny

I see it. The "other F word"? Wow, clever.

And that post really REEKS of bigotry. You really can't help it, can you?

How can I be a bigot to myself? I was a fundamentalist. I would rather shorten that to "fundie", so I didn't have to type as much, but I'll just settle for OFW.

Yes that was a joke. I'm glad you got it. To me getting all worked up over words and how you perceive people might be using them ridiculous as well, and also deserves ridicule.

Since the word "fundie" seems to be almost as forbidden to use as the word "fuck", I thought OFW is a nice play on words don't you think? lol

So back to being serious.... and the topic.

Mike,

Are you a Fundamentalist Christian or can you relate to my original post in any serious way?

I gave you a chance, and you threw it back in my face. Moreover, i don't accept your perjorative label of "fundamentalist".

So, sorry, but I can't relate to your bigotry.

If you can't stand the heat, then get out of the kitchen. Don't just T-up dumb comments like that and not expect me to drive them down the fairway.

Now I started this thread with both you and ABO in mind. If you want to run off, that is your choice. The only chance here to be lost is your chance to give a serious answer to a serious question.

Maybe ABO will be more reasonable.

The first question is: Are you now (or once were you), a fundamentalist Christian?

Same question to ABO, btw.

I suppose by asking this we first need to all define by what we think the word "fundamentalist christian" means.

Here is what I think it means in my own words.

A fundamentalist of any faith adheres to a strictly literal interpretation of a religious text and has blind in faith the interpretations of those texts and believe that they contain factual and infallible information.

That is not a serious question; I don't accept your perjorative labeling system.

Christian fundamentalism

This isn't a topic worthy of discussion? Wikipedia thinks so.
