Behe at KU this Thursday, Nov. 30
ID proponent Michael Behe (author of “Darwin’s Black Box”) will wrap up the Hall Center’s “Difficult Dialogue” series at KU. He will speak at 7:30 p.m. this Thursday at the Union — either in the Auditorium or in the Ballroom. Free and open to the public.

FYI: Both Behe's talk tonight and his dialogue session tomorrow have been cancelled due to weather. My wife was going to be one of the ushers, so she got an official early notice.

Do you know if Behe's presentation will be rescheduled to another date?

It doesn't sound like it will be. A culminating panel discussion is schedeled for next Thursday, Dec 7 from 3:30 - 5pm in the Hall Center.

God has struck down the evil ID!
I just couldn't help do a Pat Robertson impersonation.
Oops, I just read the link Jack gave. I was beaten to it! Now I'm wondering if Mr. Behe is seriously worried that God is coming for him.

Day-um, rmadison, that E.A.C. is one efficient bunch o' scientists!
Aw, c'mon now, don't be modest.
We all know that the EAC was quaking in its collective Birkenstocks, just afeard of the Truth And Light Behe was to bring. And, lo and behold, you must've joined up with the Global Warming Conspiracy Theorists to dump massive amounts of freezing rain on eastern Kansas.
(Gotta admit - we're jealous of that last. We'll take the precip out here in just about any form we can get it!)
Seriously . . . wear your seatbelts. Inertia doesn't care whether you're cool.

That's just like Behe to conjure up an ice storm on the exact day he's expected to do some 'splainin in Kansas. What are the odds of that happening naturally? Ten to the 150th?
Don't bother rescheduling in the Spring, either. He'll just bring down a plague of locusts.

Very sorry to hear that. My understanding is that Behe isn't one of the scheduled panelists on the panel discussion. Is that correct?

 Behe rescheduled
I picked up this letter from Leonard Krishtalka from another blog, which shall remain nameless (I'm so embarrassed)
Quote: Dear Sir
Thank you for your message. The Behe lecture is being rescheduled, details of which will be announced early next week.
The Difficult Dialogue series has presented a healthy spectrum of views concerning faith, reason and their roles in discovering knowledge. Dr. Behe’s views are part of that spectrum, as are the vastly different views presented by Dr. Miller, Dr. Scott, Dr. Dawkins, Judge Jones and Dr. Guinness. We hope you enjoy the series.

 More on resehed.
More from that unnamed blog: ftk wrote: Just received another email:
I have just been informed that the Michael Behe lecture is being rescheduled. It will be December 7 at 1:00 pm at the Crafton-Pryer Theatre (Murphy Hall). He will also be involved with a panel discussion here at the Hall Center at 3:30 that afternoon.

I think it's only fair that Behe is being re-scheduled before the wrap-up session. A lot of people want to hear what he has to say post-Dover.
But I don't understand why he is now to be included in the panel discussion, when, as far as I know, none of the other speakers from the series are granted that privilege.

I'd guess that it wasn't, or isn't, practical or affordable to bring everyone back. Behe just happens to be in the right place at the right time.

I think it would be interesting to engage Behe in a non-ID setting. Get his take on what it's like to be among the black sheep. What was so important to him that he sacrificed his career? His beliefs?
(Granted it's easier to "sacrifice" your career when you're a tenured professor and get paid no matter what kind of crackpot you are.)
But, still, it's gotta sting a little.
