Post Symbols of power- Adinkras & the nature of reality- Physics
I think ABO and Mike will also love the latest theory causing a sensation in Physics, where if true helps once and for all totally demolish Feynman's nondeterministic universe philosophy/rhetoric that has been used here (and apparently OK to use in Kansas public schools) as a scientific sounding way to slap us around for not believing as commanded. :x

Although there is not yet enough evidence to qualify it as such, what they are finding hints at the circuitry of a level of intelligence pervading the Universe at the subatomic, which (where true) would have to be added to the Theory of Intelligent Design! :D

Quote:
Physicists have long sought to describe the universe in terms of equations. Now, James Gates explains how research on a class of geometric symbols known as adinkras could lead to fresh insights into the theory of supersymmetry – and perhaps even the very nature of reality.

James Gates is a theoretical physicist at the University of Maryland:

This could at the same time be a clue to how consciousness work?

Gary, there is absolutely nothing in this article, or in supersymmetry theories in general, that challenges the probabilistic nature of quantum mechanics.

Also, there is nothing in the article remotely connected to consciousness.

I am not arguing the "probabilistic nature of quantum mechanics" this helps show why the formulas need "uncertainty" to account for what is not yet understood. Or in other words the universe is not a limited math formula, it's made of real matter.

And I mentioned consciousness because it seemed to me like a clue.

And how does it seem a clue to consciousness?

The theory suggests (but not predict) that it is a mechanism at the subatomic level, similar to what is being explained in the article. I still have to better study how it works, preferably using a computer model. At this point it’s just a hunch that it might have something to do with either intelligence or consciousness. Have to try ruling both in or out.

For intelligence it’s relatively easy to rule in or out because there should be an obvious place in the circuit where this belongs. If also capable of storing and holding one or more memories then the next step would be to look for the other circuits needed to form a RAM, such as Addressing and a way for Data to perform an Action (which can also be to Address another RAM).

Consciousness is much more difficult because of there being no theory to qualify it yet. Only have theories that localize consciousness to certain areas of the brain, but that cannot qualify something as being conscious simply by examining how its circuit works. In time there might be enough known about what is happening at the subatomic level to allow experiments that interfere with our consciousness. Possibly be like a non-drug anesthesia where intelligence is still there but the subject no longer knows they exist, which might be evident by their behavior especially if consciousness is required to feel pain then they suddenly have no pain sensation. Might only say "ouch!" when consciousness is restored, otherwise just be curious why someone poked them with a pin. I'm of course now speculating, but have to start somewhere.

It’s hard to explain all the reasons why I see this worth checking out, but it just makes sense from a scientific standpoint to consider it a possibility. When trying to figure out what something is, all the things it could possibly be are first considered, then tests are performed to see whether that is it or not.
