Brian,

Facebook is a great free tool. Many people are on it and it allows you to share easily. You may want to check it out or maybe join Topeka Naturalism Facebook page. I recently discovered it. Seems like an good source.

Post Re: This forum is closing - farewell to you all!
I'm hitting this thread one more time with the sole purpose to ask a question to those of you who have participated in discussions here in the past.

I'm curious who on this site would be willing to continue some of the discussions from previous threads (and of course also make new threads), once a new place has been set up with the proper software installed. I am willing to make the effort to set all of this up, but before I do I would like to know who from this site would be interested in seeing this continue and who might want to participate in discussions on the new site.

Please either respond in this thread or PM me here.

Thanks.

Brian, count me in too. Another good choice could be Yahoo or Google discussion groups -they are free, allow threads and also web archiving. No need to pay for anything.

Have you looked into Facebook yet? Another recommendation could be Topeka Naturalism Group on FaceBook. Why reinvent the wheel? I recently discovered them.

Great, that makes 3 of us so far. :)

ABO, Mike ? You guys still around? I would want you to come over there as well. I still would like to discuss some of the things we didn't get to finish in this forum.

FWIW: Even though you two might see things differently than a lot of people, you both do have a the ability to provide a quality and civil discorse, and I have enjoyed reading your posts.

Brian thanks for the invite. There is a lot more to discuss and I still have quite a few questions which have not been sufficiently answered. Absolutely, count me in.

Ok people, I went ahead and purchased the domain name.

I was looking for a "Citizen's for Science" type of domain name and much to my surprise, the domain "CitizensForScience.com" was available, so I went ahead and purchased it.

I don't know what the ultimate direction will be of this site, but I do want to make it clear from the outset that it will be in no way affiliated with the KCFS organization.

I don't think Jack will participate in the new site, other that to perhaps privately give me some tips on moderating and be available to ask any configuration questions if needed.

I won't speak for Jack, but I think he is burnt out on this sort of thing. I hope that after some time, he at least decides to sign up and occasionally put his 2 cents in on a topic or two every now and then, but I'm not going to hold my breath for that.

I checked those out. Thanks for the ideas. We might also link the site to facebook somehow so maybe both areas could be utilized. However, keep in mind that most people use facebook in a non-anonymous fashion. I'm not sure everyone would want to do that, so I think having a phpBB forum like this one is necessary.

I have more to say about Facebook, but for now I would like to just take things one at a time because I'm not sure how much of my own time I will have (in the long run), to devote to all of this. I'm hoping some of the users here would like to help in some way.

Also, I think we should have some kind of blogging going on on the new site as well, although I'm not sure in exactly in what form or format.

I'm open for ideas from everyone.

This "burnt out" thing reminded me of a song on YouTube I came across tonight.

Well Mr Krebs maybe Neil Young is right. It might be better to burn out (if you have), than to fade away. :)

Parting song for you.
